Healing Through Connection and Care
About Me
Hi, I’m Lauren Walther, LCSW, LCDC, CGP and Chi for Two® Embodiment Coach and the central belief in my life and work is that healing happens in the context of relationships. Whether I’m working with individuals, couples, or families, my focus is on helping people feel seen, understood, and capable of meaningful change.
I’ve spent my career walking alongside people in some of their most difficult moments—whether facing addiction, navigating complex family dynamics, or working through deep emotional pain. My goal is to provide therapy that isn’t just insightful but also truly effective. I bring warmth, honesty, and a deep commitment to helping my clients move toward lives that feel more connected and fulfilling.

My path to this work started at Georgia State University, where I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology in 2008. While in graduate school at Smith College School for Social Work (MSW, 2011), I worked in a psychiatric hospital, gaining firsthand experience in acute mental health care. After graduating, I completed a postgraduate fellowship at The Menninger Clinic (2012), specializing in treating professionals in crisis—physicians, attorneys, executives—whose careers and personal lives had been upended by mental health and substance use challenges.
I stayed at Menninger until 2017, working on the Professionals in Crisis program and later in the Pathfinder Program, which focused on community reintegration for those transitioning out of intensive care. At the same time, I built a private practice, where I continued my work with individuals and families.
Currently, I serve as Director of Family Programming at Driftwood Recovery, where I lead the family workshop and provide training and support to staff working with families. My role involves helping families navigate the complexities of addiction and recovery, offering guidance on how to heal relationships and create healthier dynamics.
I also recently launched Lumi Intensive Therapy, a new way to offer deep, focused therapeutic work in a shorter time frame. Through Lumi, I provide customized, high-impact therapy intensives—whether for individuals, couples, or families—designed to jumpstart change when traditional weekly therapy isn’t enough. Whether it's a two-day workshop or a four-week structured intensive, Lumi is built to help people move forward faster and more effectively, without losing the continuity of their existing therapy. I created this program because I’ve seen firsthand how meaningful progress happens when people can fully immerse themselves in the work with the right support.

I’ve trained in a range of approaches, all chosen because they deepen the work I do:
Mentalization-Based Therapy for Families – Helping people slow down reactivity, become curious instead of defensive, and improve relationships.
Psychoanalytic Studies – Completed a two-year fellowship (2014) to understand the deeper emotional patterns that shape us.
Addiction & Recovery Work – Licensed as a Chemical Dependency Counselor (TX, 2014), with extensive experience treating substance use disorders.
CAMS (Collaborative Assessment & Management of Suicide) – A research-based approach to reducing suicide risk through connection and collaboration.
Group Therapy – Certified as a Group Psychotherapist, because healing in a group setting can be transformative.
Psychodrama (2018) – Using experiential techniques to help people work through trauma and emotional blocks.
Chi for Two® (in training) – A movement-based trauma healing method that uses mindful, relational movement to help people regulate their nervous systems and restore a sense of connection.
At my core, I’m passionate about therapy that goes beyond insight—that helps people feel different, not just think differently. Whether you’re an individual struggling with mental health or addiction, a couple looking for deeper intimacy, or a family trying to heal, I’m here to help you move toward the life and relationships you want.

When I’m not in therapist mode, I love staying active—whether it’s yoga, running, stretching, hiking, or just moving my body in any way I can. I also enjoy listening to podcasts and getting lost in a good book. Fiction, historical fiction, biographies (especially about historical figures), recovery memoirs, self-help, romantasy, science fiction, and fantasy all make my list.
I love watching films, trying new restaurants, and spending time outdoors. And while life is busy, I always make time for the people who matter most—my husband, two kids, and the family and friends who keep me grounded.
Let’s do this work together.
